Learning Resources

The Learning Resources Program at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (DSLCC) encompasses a broad range of services which provide academic support to the campus community, the college's service area and other institutions in Virginia and out-of-state.  Through its web-based catalog of materials it provides free loan to all of its constituents, including  access for Distance Education students, who may come to campus very rarely. It also endorses the philosophy of interlibrary loan, and using the National Interlibrary Loan Code of the American Library Association, the Center cooperates on an international level to provide a materials exchange with libraries world-wide.

The Learning Resources Center Staff recognizes the importance of  becoming familiar with emerging technologies and electronic information sources  for future needs. Not only does the Learning Resources Center staff collect, manage and administer the purchases they make on behalf of their clients, they also work with instructional faculty to incorporate aspects of Information Literacy for all of DSLCC's students, during which they master basic electronic tools to  provide a  comfortable  level in working with the sources of any other public or academic library.  As a catalyst for lifelong learning, the DSLCC Learning Resources Program keeps its users on the cutting-edge.
