Child Care

Study the techniques and methods for developing language and perceptual skills in young children.  Learn how to plan appropriate activities, organize the learning environment and assist young children with the development of self-esteem and self-control. Prepare to work in a child care center or develop your own business.

Prepare for a career in the high-growth culinary arts industry.  Develop skills in both food preparation and management aspects of the field, such as food and beverage cost control, fundamentals of quality and applied nutrition.  Gain immediate employment upon completion of the program or enter advanced chef training.

Golf Operations

Be part of the growth phase in the golf industry. Specific job opportunities in the area include working for resorts such as The Homestead, The Greenbrier, Snowshoe, and Wintergreen, in jobs such as tournament manager, practice range manager, pro shop operator, facility planner/developer, cart fleet manager, golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent, country club manager, and golf marketer/promoter.

Turf Management

Join a growing industry of technicians with expertise in pest management and specialized skills in the growth and care of various types of turfgrass as used in golf courses. Job opportunities in the area include working for resorts such as The Homestead, The Greenbrier, and Snowshoe, and working for private and public golf courses located in Alleghany, Botetourt, and Rockbridge counties, as well as commercial properties that require landscape and turfgrass maintenance.
